Roseola or a reaction to amoxicillin?
My 16-month-old started out with arunny nose, sneezing, a bit of cough, and feeling tired... Then just the runny nose remained, and then a fever showed up, getting to almost 103... Only lasted a day, however... Took her in to the doc, just in case, and they discovered an ear infection, and put her on antibiotics... Now, she's developed a rash, that started on her neck and hairline, and has spread to her back and chest... I called two different docs; her regular pediatrician, who I did not take her to see, for this, and the clinic that did treat her... First place said if it's just a rash, it's probably no big deal, but it could be either Roseola (my suggestion) or a reaction to the amoxicillin... Other place simply called me back and said they were calling in another prescription for her, and to stop the amoxicillin... ?? Why would they do this, without talking to me about it, first? I'm not dealing with the actual docs, but either the Medical Assistant, or the Nurse.
I figured they would tell me to quit the meds, and see if the rash goes away; if it does, try again, and if it comes back, then we know it's a reaction... If it stays, we know it's the Roseola... Should I just go with what they say, and give her this new drug, which I've never heard of? Or continue the amoxicillin, anyway? My gut says this is just Roseola, and but I would have liked for them to have asked to see her! I looked up pics of it, on the net, and it looks just like it.

Well I think that you will know your daughter best and am sure they should see her before changing her meds for sure. They are proffesionals I think you should trust their judgement talk it over with them and find out more about the new meds they want to give her. Sorry couldn’t be more help, its a tricky one.
