How long is roseola contagious for?
My daughter got pink eye on thursday and by friday morning she was running a fever of 104.0 Took her to the dr and they gave me medicine for her eye and also ceflaxin (i think thats how u say it). By sunday night the fever finally broke, and monday morning she was all broke out in pink dots, I went right to the er. She is allergic to pennicylin so I thought it was another allergic reaction, and the dr said yes it was. Because I went to the er, I was not able to see her regular dr. This afternoon I called her dr and she said that its most likely roseola. I just want to see how long its contagious for. Right now it looks as though the dots are fading from her face. And what is the cause of this? I wastold pink eye is from feces, but have read otherwise.

Roseola is a virus that kids get and there is nothing we can do for it. It has to run its course. My daughter was just exposed to it at daycare. I was told that they are contagious for 7 days or until they get a fever and it breaks. They are not contagious with the the rash. I was told you can give them tylenol for the fever and give them a baking soda bath for the rash if it bothers them. It is rare for anyone over 4 to get this as it is just a childhood virus. The virus is a strain of the herpes virus, but does not cause the warts. There are several strains, so your child will not get this one again but there is a chance for your child to get it again as a different strain. Good luck and I hope it doesnt last too long for you.
